"It's good to talk."
I've had some amazing opportunities and I am now embarking on the greatest to date.
From an early age all I did was draw. This both thrilled and worried my parents (mainly the state of the carpet). I was at my happiest covered in paint, charcoal, glue and mostly 2B lead.
Although I loved to draw, I wasn't sure how this was going to eventually influence my life. Blank pieces of paper frightened me, and despite nearly failing my Foundation Course in Art (don't tell my mum), I landed myself a place on the BA Illustration degree course at The Arts Institute Bournemouth. Here I marvelled at the fact there was a sandy beach and I finally saw how all those years of scribbling were to pay off. Instead of choosing the traditional mediums of illustration, I went down the digital route, taking inspiration from illustrative advertising and marketing.
I graduated with fresh ideas of changing the world (obviously) and I embarked on finding a career. After a short but incredibly inspiring stint working for a Sussex based charity, I realised that although I could design, I could also communicate, organise, juggle, come up with new ideas and get stuck in - in pretty much any area. This was an invaluable lesson that helped to steer my career path.
It was then that I stumbled into the Fantasy Gaming Industry.
No, not that kind of fantasy gaming!
What do you take me for?! Fantasy Football and the like.
Glad we are on the same page now.
I earnt my stars and stripes and learnt everything I could, from the design, build and marketing to the development of each game. Starting as an Account Manager I eventually retired from the fantasy world three years later as the Marketing & Design Manager. This took me to pastures luscious and green at Juretic Media, and to a new chapter.
Working at Juretic I was once again able to breathe, grow and organically evolve my role. It was wonderful to have that freedom, to work with such a dynamic and creative team. More importantly, it enabled me to hone my skills and abilities.
Jump in the DeLorean and more than another three years later I am now here, as one quarter of the Magnetic Works team, as the Communications Director. It is likely that you have spoken to me at some point, whether this is about your project, email marketing or just for a general chat.
And if we haven't spoken before, then give me a call and see how Magnetic Works can give you pulling power.
I flipping love this. Ed Sheeran and 'the ginger one from Harry Potter'. Seriously funny.
Also stumbled over this classic on the weekend. The People Under The Stairs (scary film too).
If you haven't discovered Lucy Rose yet, then you should.
